Arsenal are firmly positioned among the clubs pursuing Athletic Club and Spain winger Nico Williams, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United also showing interest in the 23-year-old, according to multiple media reports.
Williams, who signed a long-term contract extension with Athletic Club until 2035 last summer, remains a high-profile target for several top European sides. The deal included an increased release clause reported to be in the region of €90-100 million (£77-85m), which would be required to prize him away from San Mames.
The Spain international has dealt with injury setbacks this season, including groin and hamstring issues, limiting his output to six goals and three assists in 25 La Liga appearances. Despite the disrupted campaign, his pace, dribbling ability and performances for Spain — including at the European Championship — have kept him on the radar of Premier League clubs.
Sources close to the situation indicate Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is among those driving the Gunners’ interest, with manager Mikel Arteta viewing the left-sided attacker as a strong potential fit to add depth and competition on the flanks.
Liverpool have been linked with a substantial bid in recent months, while Manchester City and Manchester United are also monitoring developments as they assess their attacking options ahead of the summer window. Williams is not actively pushing for an exit but is understood to be open to considering the right opportunity if a club presents a compelling project.
Athletic Club are expected to hold firm on their valuation, given the player’s long-term commitment and status as a key academy product.
