Liverpool Hijack Newcastle Deal to Sign Spanish Star Víctor Muñoz

GETTY

Liverpool have reportedly pulled off a late hijack to secure the signing of highly rated Spanish winger Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna.

Newcastle United were on the verge of completing the deal, but the Reds are said to have moved swiftly tonight to trigger the release clause and agree personal terms with the player.

The 22-year-old, who came through Real Madrid’s youth system before joining Osasuna last year, will put pen to paper on a long-term contract that runs until June 2032. Liverpool will pay €40 million to Osasuna, with €20 million of that going to Real Madrid due to their sell-on percentage.

This surprise move marks a significant coup for Liverpool. Muñoz impressed in La Liga with his pace, direct running, and ability to create chances from wide areas. His performances earned him recognition at international level with Spain, making him a valuable addition to the attacking options.

His youth and potential fit the profile Liverpool often target, offering both immediate impact and long-term value under the current management.

The deal comes at a busy time for the club as they look to strengthen their squad. By acting decisively, Liverpool have beaten competition from other Premier League sides and secured one of the most promising young talents in Spanish football.

Muñoz played 34 league games for Osasuna during the 2025/2026 La Liga season, recording 6 goals and 2 assists.
