England international Beth Mead has signed a three-year contract with Manchester City Women after leaving Arsenal at the end of her contract.

The 31-year-old forward joins the reigning Women’s Super League champions on a free transfer following nine successful years at Arsenal, where she made over 260 appearances and won multiple trophies.

Upon signing Mead said the transition was “a lot easier.”

“I’ve played with a lot of the players in the team, I’ve watched a lot of players in the team over the years and in the season gone, and I think that’s what created a lot of excitement.

“I’ve been excited to be able get the chance to play with some of these players and enjoying playing some good football knowing they’re good humans, good people, a good team, good vibes.

“So yeah, I think that’s made it a lot easier, the transition to come here.” She said.

Mead, a key figure in England’s Euro 2022 triumph and a former WSL assist leader, is expected to add creativity and experience to Manchester City’s attacking options as they aim to defend their domestic title and push for success in the Champions League.

The move also sees her reunite with partner Vivianne Miedema at the club.

Mead joined Arsenal in January 2017. She made 265 appearances, scoring 86 goals, providing 54 WSL assists, and winning six titles with the club, including the 2018–19 WSL and the 2024–25 Champions League.
