Manchester City lifted the 2025-26 FA Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Antoine Semenyo, signed from Bournemouth for around £62.5 million in January, produced a moment of magic in the 72nd minute.
With the game still goalless and tensions rising, he steered home a clever backheel from close range to settle the contest. It was the only goal of an intense afternoon and secured City’s eighth FA Cup title.
The win also marked Pep Guardiola’s 20th major trophy during his time at the club, underlining his remarkable reign in Manchester. This was City’s domestic cup double in the 2025-26 season, having also won the EFL Cup after beating Arsenal 2-0 on 22 March 2026.
They became only the sixth team in history to win both domestic cup competitions in the same season, matching their own previous record from 2018-19.
In the FA Cup, City recorded impressive victories including a 10-1 thrashing of Exeter City, a 2-0 win over Salford City, a 3-1 success against Newcastle United, a dominant 4-0 victory over Liverpool, a 2-1 semi-final win against Southampton, and a 1-0 final triumph over Chelsea.
With the cup secured, City’s full focus now shifts back to the Premier League title race. They are pushing hard to overtake league leaders Arsenal in their remaining fixtures as they hunt for the trophy.
