Jamie Redknapp spoke highly of Oliver Glasner as the best manager Crystal Palace have ever had, following the announcement that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
When asked by Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates, “Is he Palace’s greatest manager?” Redknapp replied: “Yes, has to be. If they win two trophies… Winning the FA Cup is an incredible achievement itself, beating Manchester City last year. If they can beat Rayo Vallecano that would be unbelievable and you don’t associate Crystal Palace with winning trophies — not in this current era. Obviously they’ve done it before but an unbelievable job.”
“…I’d be really nervous taking over from him!” the Sky Sports pundit said after Palace’s 3-0 loss at Premier League contenders Manchester City on May 13, 2026.
The Austrian led Palace to their first major trophy with the 2025 FA Cup win (1-0 vs Manchester City), a club-record 53 Premier League points in 2024-25, and a first European final appearance against Rayo Vallecano on May 27.
Glasner announced his departure at the end of the 2025-26 season, leaving behind a transformed club performance and high expectations for any successor.
Crystal Palace are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table (two games left to play), with 44 points, 8 points above the relegation zone and well below their club record of 53 points achieved last season.
Glasner joined Crystal Palace on February 19, 2024, replacing Roy Hodgson, after previously managing the German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
At the time, Crystal Palace were in 15th place in the Premier League table, just 5 points above the relegation zone after 10 defeats in 17 games. They went on to finish 10th, with Glasner recording 7 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses from the 13 matches he managed that season.
